Ms. Modesther Karuri is a refined agent of social transformation, who has spearheaded Transparency and Accountability, Community Empowerment, capacity strengthening, Research and Development initiatives with various organizations and institutions within Kenya and beyond. Has a wealth of experience in Project design and has designed various projects including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Livelihoods, refugee programming, humanitarian emergencies response coordination, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition and maternal health, among others by supporting social inclusion and sustainability mechanisms. She has worked with international development partners in project development, implementation, evaluation and reporting. These partners include; Missio Munich- Germany, Albello de la Vida- Italy, CEI- Italy, Caritas Internationalis, SED Madrid, Loyola Foundation, Mizereor Germany, KZE- Germany, Missio Aachen, GIZ, World Vision, AICs just to mention but a few. Modesther holds an academic background in Sustainable Development from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and an MBA for Executives from Strathmore Business school. She has other certifications including strategic management, Monitoring and evaluation and currently enrolled for PMP certification. She has a wide experience in project designing, leadership and governance, partnership development and resource mobilization. Currently, she serves as the country representative for Cross Catholic Outreach US in Kenya in charge of projects due diligence and reporting. Has strong background in participatory methodologies in the areas of: Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Participatory Impact Monitoring (PIM), Social Impact Assessment (SIA), Donor mapping and funded projects appraisals, Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST), Children’s Hygiene and Sanitation Training (CHAST) and Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). Has vast experience in social science, behavior change communications, perception and attitude Change communication and partnership development.
